My Students
Each day I have the chance to be in front of a group of remarkable students. They speak different languages (there are over 19 different languages spoken at our school), have different economic backgrounds, are tremendously excited about reading, and love to learn. They love to talk to each other, to discuss their world, and ask thoughtful questions about their lessons each day.
Every student brings a different perspective/set of experiences to our class.
Students learn to respect each other. My students and I strive to build a community in our classroom; a place where respect and laughter thrive. Learning is a great adventure for us all. My students' talents are many, and their eagerness to learn is the fuel behind our whole school day.
My Project
The turning of the first page of a novel is an adventure. Imagination begins to bloom as a story begins. Scenes begin to emerge in the mind: a ship bobbing in the ocean waves headed towards an island hiding a treasure, a girl's wondrous trip down a rabbit hole, and the curious adventures of a toad.
This project is centered around reading each of these classic adventure novels: The Wind in the Willows,
Treasure Island and Alice in Wonderland together as a class, then discussing and asking questions, utilizing note-taking, and finally creating book jackets based on each of the books that we read. Wonderful adventures await for my awesome students!
