This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students do not have access to a lot of books at home and we offer them a great reading program. The problem we face is to get them to read more, by using Accelerate Reader and giving them incentives to read more has helped. We have run out of incentive prizes and stickers.

We are a small school in a lower income area.

Most of our students ride the public transportation to get to school. Parents are unable to get students to public libraries and at our school we are trying to instill the love of reading! We have a great library and reading program we just are in need of incentives to get our students reading

My Project

We are asking for reading incentives or prizes to help motivate our students to read. The students love the competition of our Accelerated reading program and they are motivated to read. They love being given stickers or prizes and to take them home to show their parents how well they are doing in school.

The impact that giving motivational or incentives for reading is great on our students as a lot of times they don't have that same motivation at home.
