This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students attend a low income urban school in Northern California.
The majority of my students hail from Latino, African-American, and Southeast Asian backgrounds, many of whom will be the first in their families to face the challenges of attending high school, college, and beyond.
They are academic and driven young adults who are determined to reach the heights of achievement in college, despite a series of systemic disparities and barriers of race and class they face every day.
My Project
This scanner will seamlessly convert all the books that I would have regularly assigned during the regular school year into digital files that can be easily shared online with students. Pandemic or not, students must be given access to quality literature for their English, history, government, and economics classes.
This scanner will help me deliver books, articles, and visual artifacts in my classroom to my students in a digital format so that learning during this challenging time can be as seamless as possible for our youth.
In a time of limited mobility, we must harness all the creativity and technology we can muster to deliver the education that all students deserve.
