My Students

Many students do not enjoy reading! My goal is to incorporate the Science World Magazine in the Science classroom to grab and hold the attention of the students by introducing them to interesting topics which in the long run will help them learn.

The students are typical Middle School students who enjoy music, technology, cell phones, etc.

One thing that does make them different is that more than 94% of the school population is on free and reduced price lunch; therefore, the use of the Science World Magazine would help the students to make real-world connections.

My Project

As part of the curriculum, students are encouraged to read 25 books over the course of the school year related to the different subjects. The Science World Magazine will allow the students to read interesting, creative, and informative articles related to topics that will grab and hold their attention. This is high praise for a magazine because it is difficult to grab and hold the attention of Middle School students in regards to school.

Donations to this project will allow for the students to enjoy reading articles related to Science daily.

The use of this magazine in the classroom will allow for it to be part of the daily routine and will allow the students' to be more well informed about what is happening in the field of Science.
