My Students
Have you ever tried to read a foreign language? This is what some students feel like when they are introduced to a new mathematical concept. Reading about new math topics in interesting, age-appropriate literature will help them to build a solid math foundation.
I teach math to 36 7 and 8 years old each day.
Our school is a Title 1, K-2 school that is home to approximately 600 students. These students come from a variety of backgrounds ranging from little or no exposure to math in literature to daily exposure. These students are very eager to learn and learn best when concepts are introduced in a relevant manner for their lives.
My Project
I am anxious to introduce my students to new math concepts through interesting literature. I am requesting math story book to help foster a spark in the math classroom. I believe that using these math story books will help students realize the importance of math and reading at the same time!
For some student in our school the classroom and school library is the only opportunity for them to read!
I want to provide them with as many resources as possible to help them be successful ... not only in reading, but also in math! I believe that math story books support both of these goals!
