My Project
What I love most about my second graders is their growing confidence and excitement as readers. At this stage, they’re building foundational skills that will shape their academic future, and it’s amazing to witness their progress—from sounding out new words to making connections in stories. Each student brings their own spark and personality, and I’m inspired every day by their determination and joy for learning.
The resources in this project will directly support my students' reading development.
Each item is chosen to meet my students where they are and help them move forward. One key resource I'm especially excited about is the Lakeshore Flex-Space Washable Comfy Floor Seat - Blue. This flexible seating option will give my students a comfortable and inviting space to enjoy independent reading time. Many of my students focus better when they can choose where and how they sit, and this floor seat will help create a calm, cozy reading nook that encourages focus and a love for books. The fact that it’s washable also ensures that it stays clean and safe throughout the year. The snacks, fidgets and small toys will be used as incentives/rewards for completing reading assignments. The weeper will help keep the floor clean so students can read on it.
My goal is to nurture strong, confident readers who not only master essential skills but also develop a lifelong love for reading—and this project will help create the environment they need to thrive.
