Help me give my students a variety of books for continued practice with fluency, dry-erase markers for spelling practice, and index cards and pocket charts to create a morpheme board for reinforcing word structure.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
To support the development of students' reading skills, it's essential for them to have access to a wide range of books. As a dyslexia therapist using programs like Take Flight, Reading by Design, Build, and Reading Readiness, I work closely with my students to help them improve their literacy. However, besides these resources, we need more books for group reading sessions. These books allow students to practice the skills they've learned in therapy while receiving ongoing feedback from me in a small group setting. Additionally, dry-erase markers are needed for spelling practice, and index cards and colored pocket charts are essential for creating a morpheme bulletin board to reinforce understanding of word structure and meaning.
