This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are from a high poverty area. Not having much in life does not dim the light in their eyes from wanting to learn all that they can. My students are hard workers but lack the funds, transportation or time to get books to read. I would like for my students to have the opportunity to be able to read books for pure enjoyment.
It is an amazing thing to watch my students read a book they like, share it with friends and tell me all about it.
I like watching them be engrossed in a book and wanting to read it over and over rather than being on the computer.
My Project
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”
― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
My first graders love new books, however my classroom library has books that are falling apart! I would love to have new and updated books for them to read. Students will be able to read them in the classroom, choose what book they want me to read or check them out to read at home. My goal this year is for students to read 100 books during the school year. These books would go a long way to help them reach this goal.
