I will be teaching a class of multicultural fifth graders who are a mixture of ELD, special needs, and gifted students. They are eager students who are ready to learn and try their best.
More than half of our students come from low-income families who cannot provide them with the resources they need to help give their children the best education possible.
These students are the ones on the free or reduced-price lunch list.
My Project
Sometimes we think of 5th graders as the "big kids" on campus and treat them so. However, they are just little kids in bigger bodies. I have discovered that these kids enjoy read aloud books as much as first graders do. Therefore I am requesting books that will help me create lessons around them.
These fifth graders love when I read books to them, so why not tie them to lessons to make it more meaningful?
We plan to focus on growth mindset, emotions, perseverance, diversity, kindness, and much more. Please help us get these books for my class so I can make my lessons come to life. I plan to use it every year with my students. Thank you in advance for your support.
