All of our students come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Some are new to our country, and some have escaped war-torn countries despite their circumstances.
My students enjoy coming to school and learning, but they are in need of some items in our classroom to help with their social and emotional learning.
My students attend an inner-city school with a 100% poverty rate. They all come from different backgrounds, but together they work well with each other. We work to build a community in our classroom and a safe environment.
My Project
My students don't always enjoy reading, but these Scholastic magazines can help spark an interest in reading. These magazines will also help them become more fluent writers and improve their confidence. Students want to succeed, but, when they struggle, they don't see that they can.
Scholastic News gives students access to graphics charts, current news articles, and tests that align with state standards.
I want to help build confidence in my students by teaching them that everyone struggles. Success is just a matter of not giving up and finding ways to make it work. Having Scholastic News will help show them that that they can do it and that they can actually enjoy reading.
