My Students

My students live in a rural community in Maine. Many of the families receive free lunch due to their low socioeconomic status.

My students in grades K-4 all have some form of speech and language disorder.

I try to bring fun into all of my therapy sessions by utilizing non-traditional therapy techniques. My students love playing games, making crafts, and socializing while we target their extremely challenging speech and language skills. They are all hard workers! And they make me laugh on a daily basis!

My Project

Truly decodable books are important in improving the confidence of my students. Students who struggle with learning to read need to be reading books that contain only the skills they have learned. This will help their confidence in reading. They will be successful!

Decodable books are extremely important in helping students with Specific Learning Disability in Reading/Dyslexia.

As a Speech and Language Pathologist who specializes in Dyslexia, I need decodable books to use with my students. Being able to read and comprehend a chapter book independently, will be so powerful to my students. They will look forward to reading these books.
