My Students
Do you remember learning your letter sounds? My students are eager to read but need materials to establish letter and sound recognition.
My students are in grades 1st-6th grade.
They enjoy school and want to be successful during the day. My school is located in Moore, Oklahoma. We are continue to recover from the tornado in May of 2013. I teach a special education resource room with students that have a range of disabilities. Their disabilities include autism, ADHD, reading and math disabilities. I also have a student with a hearing loss.
My Project
These materials will help my students learn how to read. They will be actively involved with hands on materials. Manipulative's allow students with disabilities to engage and thrive during the learning process. The letter sound and rhyming cards are the first step in learning how to read. The bright colors and durable material will increase my students reading skills.
Donations for my project will go toward building life long readers.
Reading is a crucial part of education. It encompasses all academic areas. Students must be able to read to complete science, social studies and math courses. When students can't read they become embarrassed or lack self esteem. I want every student that enters my classroom to become a proficient reader.
