Help me give my students the gift of culturally responsive reading, so that they can see themselves in the texts that they read.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are a truly diverse population in a truly integrated school where just over half are low-income and just under half are middle-income. Students who are Native American, African American, Latino, Asian American, and European American make up our population, as well as students who were born abroad or with parents who are immigrants from such diverse homelands as Japan, China, Laos, Nepal, India, Yemen, Palestine, Egypt, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
Despite the differences between students and cultures, they come together under the values of courage, compassion, curiosity, integrity, respect, and responsibility to push for the self-success and community success with the motto "Leave no dragon behind!"
My Project
Students always need texts that affirm their identities.
It is crucial for my students to see themselves in what they read.
It allows them to grow in self-love and in the positive mental health that comes from students breaking free from social stereotypes through proper and normal representation that respects the individual and features positive stories of ordinary people as extraordinary people.
I have been growing our school library for the past 5 years and you can be an important part of year 6 of our high school library additions.
