Reading For Math Growth

My students need leveled math books for levels A-I, books about counting, and math learning centers to help both math and reading skills at the same time.

My Students

My classroom is filled with students whose varying reading and math levels make one group activity difficult to complete. Resources are difficult to find that can help improve the skills of each of my students.

My students are in middle school, grades 6-8, but the levels of reading and math skills range from kindergarten to 5th grade.

As a special education resource room, each student has been diagnosed with a disability that is holding them back from learning the grade-level skills they need to in order to be successful.

My Project

Because my students are so many years behind in their reading and math skills, I would love to be able to increase their time working with both sets of skills. By bringing leveled math books into my classroom, I am hoping to provide them with more productive time using both math and reading skills. Because of the wide range in levels, I am also hoping to give each student independent time during my class to work at a "read about math center" that can be tailored specifically to that child's needs. I am requesting math library books leveled for my kids' reading levels and math reading stations to use for independent or partner learning.

My students need all the practice they can get with reading and math skills.

These books and reading centers focused on math content will help them grow in both areas so they can catch up with their non-disabled peers. They can have materials that are presented right at their level so they can be successful and continue progressing.
