This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first grade students may be young, but they are brimming with potential and the motivation to learn.

This year, with distance learning, my students have been such a joy to teach.

They work super hard, show up and engage in learning for approximately three to four hours everyday, online.

My Project

Distance learning has been really challenging for my young learners. However, despite that, they have been so passionate about learning. It has truly been a privilege to teach them.

With this project, I am hoping to provide more opportunities for my learners to read simply for enjoyment.

My students have made substantial growth from quarter one to quarter two in their foundational reading skills. However, so much of what we have done in the classroom with reading has been technical and a little isolated.

I want my students to experience how being able to read leads to discovery and the rewards that come from it, intrinsically.
