This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a Special Education Teacher. The students at my school are incredible, creative and inquisitive. The students I work with are below grade level in Literacy. They struggle each year in their general education classes. However, they are eager to learn new reading strategies to be successful!
My Project
Imagine you were 10 years old sitting in a classroom trying to sound out words while your class is reading aloud fluently. Every day my students struggle with literacy and self confidence. The white boards will allow for frequent practice with reading and writing words. The index cards and binder rings will provide my students with individual sight word card rings. These materials will allow me to provide my students with a direct multi-sensory approach to reading. Each child requires their own binder to monitor their progress during the intervention.
I am an out of the classroom special educator, working with students who are struggling with reading.
I have been trained in several reading intervention programs. These supplies are portable and reusable. They will give us the ability to work anywhere. This will promote confidence and success in my students!
