I am the Special Education teacher in a low income area in Brooklyn, NY. We are a Title I school.
My 5th grade ICT class integrates special education students into the general education classroom/curriculum.
My students are bright, responsible, energetic and curious to explore and learn new things. Despite challenges, they are all excited to be in school everyday and eager to learn. School is a safe place for them to learn valuable skills for them to prosper in the world. Materials donated by Donors Choose will truly be beneficial for their educational journey!
My Project
Time for Kids is a useful resource that is used in many classrooms around the country. I would love to bring this inspiring magazine to my classroom.
This magazine will help my students connect to the large world that we live in.
The magazine can be used in so many different ways. The articles will spark various discussions, students can "respond to reading", and students will gain a deeper understanding of different topics. Also, students may bring their magazines home to share all the exciting things they learn with their families.
Time for Kids is a very useful resource to have to prepare students for junior high school. As my students come from low income households in Brooklyn, at times, it is difficult to collect money from every student in the class. Having this project funded will ensure that every student will receive their own copy of the magazine to use throughout the school year! Thank you for considering this project!
