My students need a couple mobile book shelves to house their leveled readers so the books are organized and accessible.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach foundational reading skills, in my intervention lab, to students scoring below proficiency in literacy. I service 100 students throughout every day, ranging from kinder to fifth grade, in a small group setting. My students are eager, enthusiastic, second language learners, from a low economic neighborhood. Many struggle with visual or auditory processing, and are easily distracted. My students are excited every day to come to my lab, to receive specialized attention and specifically targeted instruction.
My reading lab provides a small group environment, with many visual supports and hands on materials that they need in order to stay engaged and grasp concepts effectively.
My Project
Our leveled readers need a good place to rest, while waiting for students to pick them up and build their reading foundational skills. Keeping leveled readers organized and labeled makes them easily accessible for students and teachers to use.
The mobile book shelves will allow us to move the leveled readers around the room, in conjunction with our reading centers.
We will use the blue bins and the wire book shelf to hold all our books that focus on short and long vowels. The large wood bookshelf will be filled with organized buckets that will hold leveled readers on the phonics continuum, from variant vowels, r-controlled vowels, advanced digraphs, etc.
My reading lab will be so organized and better equipped with these mobile book shelves and students will be more motivated to find books that suit them!
