My students come from all backgrounds, and are in a high-poverty, rural school district. They have all different experiences and background knowledge. My students vary in their reading ability and it is my job as their teacher to help them become better readers. In my classroom we use reading workshop to grow readers.
Reading Workshop helps grow readers by giving them choice in their reading and helping them choose just right books.
It also allows for individualized instruction by letting me work with each student to help them improve their reading skills.
My Project
These books will help my students have a variety of books to read. They read every day independently to become expert readers.
Student choice of books is one of the most important things for students to grow as readers.
Students love picking out their own books to read independently. The books they choose need to be at their just right reading level. This leveled collection of books will help my students choose the book that is just right for them.
My students read at least 5 books a day, so they go through books very quickly. Giving them new books to read helps them become reading experts.
