This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am basic skills teacher that works with inner city students that struggle in reading. These fourth graders are excited to read with me for one period each day. I appreciate their desire to improve in reading through guided reading. Even though, I use a specific guided reading program that provides books. I would like my students to have a classroom library of books to choose from as well. I would like to create a reading nook where students can sit in comfy floor seats and read their favorite books. I am not only trying to move these students closer to a fourth grade reading level but foster a love for reading by helping them cuddle up with a good book.
