it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Reading is a life long skill that can be utilized in all disciplines. For my English Language learners, reading proficiently at grade level has been a challenge during this global pandemic. My students enjoy listening to stories and reading books. Unfortunately they have difficulties comprehending and reading books independently. Most of my students are new to this country and lack the necessary reading tools to help them become proficient readers.
My Project
Guided reading is an essential component of a balanced literacy program. It is a research based instructional method in which a teacher works with a small group of students who are reading at the same reading level. As the ENL teacher, I support multi-lingual learners with effective reading strategies. The guided reading level books will help my students begin the school year with the necessary tools to become fluent readers. I want my students to engage with a rich variety of texts. Also, it is imperative that my students become proficient and confident readers this school year.
