Reading Engagement Materials

Help me give my students materials for reading practice. We will use the highlighter strips daily so that I can monitor them following along while friends are reading. It is an engagement strategy I call Slide Cards.

My Project

My incoming students are at a lower level than prior groups. I need high interest, easier to read books to match their reading level. I would love a set of Piggy and Elephant books because they are requested so often that our school library runs out. I would like the collection so that more students have access to their favorite books.

I use the magnet wands and chips so that while students are reading they can put a chip over words that follow a pattern such as LONG A words.

The magnetic wands are very engaging because the kids find it fun and easy to clean up all of the chips they lay down.

The Slide Cards are a must in our room. We use them multiple times daily so that students can follow along when they or others are reading. It is easy for me to monitor if the students are where we are and engaged in reading.
