Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Library and technology are part of our school's specials rotation. The tech special is funded through the library budget. Since Covid, my library budget has been cut in half. This affects the books students most love reading because I focus on purchasing curriculum novels. I am asking for books to enhance my graphic novel section, which helps struggling readers and students who dislike reading find books they might enjoy. I am also asking for a few Plugo stem kits to help primary students understand coding and build problem-solving skills. Covid has not given students a chance to find the magic of reading a real book with instant access to screens. Students have also struggled with the ability to problem solve. Literacy is such an important lifelong skill that starts in the primary grades and can grow students into strong thinkers, learners, and leaders.
