Reading Disability? No Problem When You Have the Right Tools
My students need splitters to listen to the weekly story on the Disc Men that we have, headphones to listen, and we need a cart for a projector we hope to get!
Can you imagine if every time you went to read a book, the words seemed to scramble and even fall off the page? Many of our students have learning disabilities and we really try to engage all learning modalities to help our students access the curriculum as best they can.
Our school is one that has a huge range of abilities.
Twenty percent of the students in each classroom have identified special needs. This is a full inclusion school, meaning that all learners are in one classroom all day. Our model forces its teachers to teach to all learners using a wide variety of tools to reach all students.
My Project
My students need splitters to listen to the weekly story on the Disc Men that we have, headphones to listen, and we need a cart for a projector we hope to get! With the splitters and headphones, my students will be able to gain more access to the weekly story by being able to listen and follow along. This will help with their ability to track across a line on a page, hear well-modeled reading fluency, and better comprehend the stories. The projector cart will make using a projector (which we hope will be our next funded project) as easy as can be to engage more learners!
Want to make a difference?
My students will benefit greatly from your contributions. We would really appreciate any donation you can make to help us fund this project. My students and I will be very grateful!
