This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are going to participate in the Reading Decathlon for the first time this year and the young adult books in this project are the selected titles. Students will work in groups of 3-4 and read all 16 selected books over the course of the 2025-2026 school year. Then, in April, 2026, they will compete against other schools by answering questions about the books for the coveted trophy!

Students will be able to borrow these books to prepare for the Reading Decathlon and to improve their Spanish skills.

The early reader Spanish books in this project are for students to borrow to practice reading Spanish. Some are beloved titles translated into Spanish (this entices them to read familiar books), while others are originally in Spanish (which teaches them Spanish diction and culture). Students keep asking me for more books in Spanish, so let's get some into their hands!
