This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students read daily at home and then take comprehension quizzes on Reading Counts at school. Reading Counts is similar to Accelerated Reader (A.R. quizzes) where they answer 10 questions about what happened in the story. I have a library with books at different reading levels for them to choose from.
At this point in the year, many of my students are reading books at a 3rd or 4th grade level and are really interested in Captain Underpants, Big Nate, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid!
I don't have these series in my library so they have had to borrow from other teachers' libraries. I am super proud of them for reading such long and challenging books as second graders and want to provide them with the books!
