My students need Reading Strategies Bulletin Board Set, Targeting Comprehension Strategies for the Common Core, and Test Taking Strategies, Reading Comprehension DVD.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you know how many words per minute you read? Do you read for comprehension? Do you read non-fiction or fiction literature? If you were one of my students the answer is "Yes!" to all of the above but with limited materials.
My students are smart, driven, and very verbal.
They are one hundred per cent Hispanic. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. They are exposed to violence and socio-economic limitations like lack of food, that others take for granted. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socio-economic limitations. In my classroom, they get to dream where the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They would thrive as enthusiastic learners if they are provided with the memories that will last a lifetime. They will experience and recollect their memories in a whole new way.
My Project
My students are all English learners and struggle with reading comprehension. The materials like Reading Strategies Bulletin Board Set, Targeting Comprehension Strategies for the Common Core, Test Taking Strategies, Reading Comprehension DVD, and Reading Comprehension passages will help my students increase their reading comprehension level. The Comprehension Strategies for English Language Learners, the Reading Comprehension Workbook for Grade two and three, and the Reading Informational Text: Common Core Mastery Book Grade three, have reading passages that will give my students an opportunity to have various reading materials such as fiction and non-fiction stories in different reading levels. The more they read and practice the skills needed to answer questions, the better they will become, thus enhancing their levels of comprehension. My students will be eager to share their answers easily when these resources allow them to practice and self-check without any pressure.
My students need your generous support to make reading comprehension fun and engaging.
They will learn how to be better readers and will have a higher level of comprehension with your help. By supporting this project, you are increasing my students' chances of success. Students come to my class with different levels of reading and comprehension. The requested supplies will help to differentiate their learning experiences and needs. Thank you for your support.
