My students need materials to help set up The Daily 5. This includes individual book bags/hooks, paper and markers to make charts and a pocket chart for organization.
Picture this, a classroom full of 4th graders, all working on developing their own reading and writing skills, all while the teacher is working with a small group to teach students at their own reading level. This is what you will see when we have fully implemented The Daily 5!
My 4th graders attend an urban school in Wisconsin.
My students are a very diverse population. One-third of my students are bilingual and about 95% qualify for free or reduced lunches. Despite their backgrounds, my students are very enthusiastic learners and motivated by reading interesting texts at their own levels.
My Project
This is the first project in a series of projects to help start up The daily 5 in our classroom. We will use the totes and hooks to create a space for each student to store their individual reading materials in an easily accessible location. I will use the chart paper and markers to create anchor charts, or posters with the skills the students learn in our mini lessons. Additionally, I have requested a pocket chart to help organize students into learning groups.
When you donate to this project, you will help our class start up The Daily 5 in our classroom.
When The Daily 5 is fully implemented, students will be working on developing their own reading and writing skills that will carry with them for the rest of their lives.
