Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students will participate in a multi-week reading circle where they will read selected texts, analyze themes and characters, and engage in structured writing exercises based on their reading.

This engaging and inclusive Reading Circle Project is designed to foster a love of reading, improve literacy skills, and build a sense of community in the classroom.

To support a welcoming and calming environment, the classroom will be transformed with warm, ambient twinkle lights that promote focus and comfort. This atmosphere is key to encouraging open discussion and creative expression. Each student will receive a personal notebook for journaling, reflections, and writing practice, helping them build writing stamina and connect more deeply with the texts.

To ensure inclusivity and equity, books in Spanish will be available so that all students, including English Language Learners, can fully participate and feel valued in the learning process. As our school is Title I, providing snacks during reading circles is essential. This helps address food insecurity, supports concentration, and allows all students to feel cared for and ready to learn.

To further motivate students and celebrate their efforts, stickers will be used as small but meaningful prizes for participation, insightful contributions, and writing progress. This positive reinforcement encourages consistent engagement and builds student confidence.

Through this project, students will grow as readers, writers, and thoughtful collaborators while enjoying a supportive, fun, and enriching classroom experience.
