My students are from the south side of Chicago. They live in a neighborhood that is plagued with violence. They face adversity almost on a daily basis, especially in school struggling with reading. These students are very resilient! They take the challenges that come their way with stride, striving to be better daily!
Over the past year, scholars have really taken their learning to the next level.
These students have taken responsibility for their learning and their effort is paying off!
My Project
These materials will make a difference for students learning by giving them the technology to participate in the Read 180 program.
This program is built to help student's fill fundamental gaps in reading that impede student understanding.
Students will use the Chromebooks to complete the tasks within the program and build students' confidence in reading and comprehension. I have had many students close major gaps and go from far below to above grade level with the Read 180 program.
The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in reading rigorous and complex texts.
