My students are incredible! My students are in kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth grade. They are curious, inquisitive, hard-working, and dedicated. All of my students have Individualized Educational Plans because they have been diagnosed with a disability. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. All of my students come from high poverty areas and they all love coming to school. My students are brilliant individuals who learn differently than their peers. These students will be successful and it's my job to create learning opportunities that ensure this.
My Project
My students love to get their hands on a good book. They love to read independently and have texts read out loud to them. I know that these books will be enjoyed by all!
Students (and I'd argue adults too) gain the most when they are interested in and invested in a title.
These titles are highly engaging with interesting story lines and character developments. They make reading exciting and fun which makes a huge difference to a struggling reader. I know that these titles will be put to great use in our guided reading groups and that the students will love them!
The titles that I am requesting are: The Indian in the Cupboard, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, When You Reach Me, and Esperanza Rising.
