Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The lower back stools I am requesting for my students will provide comfort and a unique design while reading books in our reading corner. Students will be able to hang out in a more relaxed environment during our independent time. Our reading corner is a project inspired by the Puerto Rican plazas where people hang out to enjoy a good chat with friends.
My goals are to inspire the students to read in the target language (Spanish) during our independent reading time.
Also, I want the students to be encouraged to talk more in Spanish while they have some time dedicated to reading and discussing with classmates that have the same interests.
My students are special to me because they want to learn a second language and become bilingual in this globalized world they live in now. They want to have another skill that will open more opportunities in the future.They are special because they welcome me everyday with an open mind to learn from my country of origin "Mexico" They are special because they know that learning a second language takes time and dedication and that is why I want to make every corner of my classroom special.
