Meet the wonderful scholars in this 1st grade class! With 27 boys in a class (the school we attend is an all-boys school), each student brings so much excitement to the learning environment of our classroom. We encourage our students to learn through discovery, hands-on application of knowledge, discussions, and movement activities. Our students enjoy activities where they can go home and teach their families what they learned in school. A classroom full of boys can be a handful (I say this with lots of love), but the boys bring a high level of engagement and creative perspectives to each and every lesson. Within this group of students, there are a handful of boys with special needs, which contributes to the wonderful diversity of the classroom.
My Project
Our students have been excited all year to grow their reading and math brains! In our classroom of over 25 students, we have access to 5 computers, which students use for many different types of reading and math activities. However, 5 computers is not always enough for these superstar readers!
With the purchase of this tablet, we will have even more access to literacy and activities; students will read books, use a research-driven literacy program that will help grow their reading levels, and play math games!
Some students may even use the tablet if they need a quick break during the day. We will have access to medication and yoga apps, which will help the students with coping skills. The students will be motivated to complete both academic and mindfulness activities using the tablet!
