My students need 15 non-fiction books such as "Meet George Washington" and ""The American Revolution" to supplement their history textbook.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Crosson's classroom raised $160

My Students
I love American History and my students are also developing a love for the topic. They love when I begin our lesson by telling them that today we will hear about "The real story of Columbus (or another topic)."
I teach 40 fifth grade students at a suburban elementary school.
Our school is a neighborhood school and most of the students walk or ride their bikes to school. My students are eager students and love to learn. They especially enjoy learning information that goes beyond the basics of our textbooks.
My Project
I am requesting 15 non-fiction books such as "Meet George Washington" and ""The American Revolution" to supplement their history textbook.
Our current textbook that we use for teaching American History only provides a very brief overview of many historical events. The books that I am requesting would be used by the students and teachers to supplement this resource. Some of the books will be used as read aloud books for the entire class. Other books will be used by the children to read independently and/or in small groups.
Donations to this project will allow me to purchase non-fiction books related to American History topics.
These books will enhance my instruction and will also provide interesting selections for the students to read on their own. Through the use of these books, the students will improve their understanding of US History and will have an opportunity to practice reading informational text.
