My Project
My students love shared reading. They get excited and engaged when that 5 minutes of the day comes around that we read the next chapter in our classroom chapter book. Reading together as a class helps foster a love for reading and allows students to build a foundation of vocabulary, reading fluency, and comprehension skills. By modeling fluent and expressive reading, students can gain a love for reading and make connections with their lives and the world around them.
Having a class set of grade-level reading books allows my students to engage in the reading material together, participate in class comprehension discussions, and learn reading strategies that help build thoughtful readers.
These books will allow students to practice the reading skills that we are learning and practicing in class. By modeling fluent and expressive reading, students can gain a love for reading and make connections with their lives and the world around them.
