My Students

I teach Fourth grade in a Title I school. My leaders are full of life and always ready to explore and learn. I am a teacher in a low income, high poverty area. Many of my students come from single parent households and receive free lunch. Because of these challenges, these students do not always have the necessary items they need to succeed in school.

As a teacher, I cannot control these students' home lives but I do have a say in what students have at school.

My Project

My students love it when I read out loud to them. They are very engaged in the story and love to find out what happens next. They don't want me to put the book down! As we do a read aloud in class often times we are working on mastering different skills. One skill that we are continually working on throughout the year is using evidence from the text to support what we think.

When students don't have the text in front of them to reference it can be hard to site evidence.

When students have the text they will be able to go back and reference exactly what the text says to support their thinking. As we start a new unit these are two books that we will be reading as a grade level. I would love to provide all my students will the text to support their learning!
