This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are special because they are learning both English and Spanish in the Dual Language program. They are learning conversational language and academics in both languages.
They are eager for knowledge and always looking towards their next achievement.
They work very hard and always strive to do their best. The children are diverse learners and come from different backgrounds and are eager to share about their culture and learn about each other. They appreciate their differences while becoming a classroom community.
My Project
My children will benefit from having bilingual books and English Language Development Skill Building Center Activities to promote and lift their reading skills. The materials will create excitement and the students will be eager to participate in discussions and share their ideas.
My class needs bilingual read-alouds and center activities for beginning readers which include hands - on activities that will promote engagement.
Learning beginning and ending sounds, as well as vowels, is the foundation for becoming a life-long reader. The Touch and Read Phonics Match and Word Sliders will be a perfect resource to promote this. These materials will be preserved and last for many years to come. My students' learning will benefit greatly and the children will gain confidence, build stamina, and have increased self esteem as learners!
