My scholars are eager to learn, ready with open minds. Our school is located in a rural, predominantly low-income area, yet we excel each year because of the way we engage our scholars. Through our hard work and dedication, our students will succeed. The teachers and students strive for excellence no matter what their circumstances. As a teacher, I encourage my scholars daily to be the best they can be in all areas. I won't settle for anything less than their best. When we, as educators, expect their best, the scholars are eager to please.
My Project
Something I hear almost daily, no matter how hard I try is "teacher, I can't see". This inspires this project.
This easel will bring stability to big books read to the students and bring shared writing closer to their level.
The easel is at a tilted level that makes is easy for most students to see without the teacher having to try to hold a book in one arm while trying to flip pages with the other, then trying to read. I want my kids to have the full experience of the book without the distraction of my shortcomings.
The easel also will hold chart paper or something a little smaller that the teacher can use to model writing for the students without having to turn her back completely to the room.
