Reading and Writing Made Fun

My Students

My third graders find writing to be one of their most difficult challenges. They often times struggle to provide details in their writing and are reluctant to edit after feedback. Writing centers and digital recording equipment will make writing more exciting and easier to understand.

We are a Title 1 school with many economically disadvantaged students.

While they are eager to learn, some students do not have the resources available to provide learning experiences in their homes. I have made it a top priority to provide these resources in the classroom to give my students the opportunity to grow academically, creatively and to grow as caring people.

My Project

Students love technology. With digital voice recorders, they can hear themselves read, hear how they provide details when they speak and hear how they sound to others. With this tool, they can improve fluency, they can comprehend the concept of elaborate details in their writing and they can have fun reading and writing. With the writing centers, they can work on editing skills, finding ideas and figuring out what to do when they get stuck.

The Donors Choose projects I have been fortunate enough to receive have made a tremendous difference since it brings hands-on experiences through resources that would be difficult to obtain without donors' generosity and support.

They love centers and these materials would be a tremendous asset to our writing work stations.
