My Project

As a first grade teacher, my goal is to create a welcoming and engaging learning environment where my students can thrive, especially as they begin the foundational stages of reading and writing. Currently, there are several key materials missing from my classroom that would greatly support both instruction and student success.

First, I am in need of floor seatings.

The carpet pockets will help establish a comfortable, community-centered learning space where students can gather for read-alouds, group discussions, and hands-on activities. Floor seating gives students the flexibility to learn in ways that feel natural and inviting, which is especially important for young learners.

Second, my classroom is equipped only with chalkboards. A dry erase board would be a valuable upgrade, allowing me to use colorful markers to visually engage students during lessons. This is especially beneficial when teaching early literacy skills, phonics, and math concepts, as vibrant visuals help capture and maintain young students’ attention.

I am also requesting chair pockets for the back of student chairs. These pockets provide easy and accessible storage for essential classroom materials such as books, notebooks, and writing tools. This not only helps students stay organized but also promotes independence and responsibility at an early age.

These resources are critical in supporting the learning needs of my students, many of whom come from homes with limited access to academic materials. By enhancing our classroom with these supplies, I can make learning more interactive, comfortable, and fun, while giving every child the opportunity to succeed academically and grow in confidence.

Thank you for considering these needs as part of your support for our classroom and students.
