This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a Title I school with predominantly English language learners who come from low income families. Ninety percent of our children come from families that are at or below poverty level.
My class is full of sweet, active kindergartners who are excited to begin the path of learning.
They come in every day ready to experience new things. I want to start them on their way to being lifelong learners in an environment that makes learning joyful and makes my children feel respected and loved.
My Project
Kindergarten has changed in the last few years. My little ones are expected to sit and listen, read or complete assignments for a longer amount of time than in previous years. Kindergartners have a hard time sitting still in their chairs and perform better standing or sitting on the floor.
My students love to work on the floor.
The beanbag chair, soft cushions, and comfy floor seats will give my students cozy furniture to use while reading and writing on the floor.
Because this furniture is lightweight my students will be able to carry it around the room and choose where they work best.
