My Students
My students are an energetic bundle of joy. I teach in a inner city school, a hundred percent of my students qualify for free lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. One student, lives with her grandparents, because both of her parents are incarcerated. Another student lives with her grandparents because her home was loss to a fire. Another student lives with foster parents. During a home visit I discovered that a parent did not have a stove nor a refrigerator, thus I had to find resources to assist the family.
School is a safe haven where the children are loved and supported.
They need additional resources to make them feel appreciated and become successful in life.
My Project
Preschool is setting a foundation for academic success. My students are in need of tablets to assist them with alphabetic knowledge and number recognition, the identification of shapes, colors and sight words as well as for beginning reading skills. My students will be able to access several educational applications to assist them with become successful preschoolers as well as preparing them for kindergarten.
My goal is for every student in my class is to be prepared to become an emergent reader and foster a love for reading, increase their vocabulary and introduce them to new sight words.
Students will be able to read along with digital books.
Using technology makes listening to books much more accessible to students. Listening to books is an important part of my classroom. When students listen to someone else reading it models the behaviors that great readers need. The use of technology gives you an opportunity to use a variety of books in a more efficient way. This will foster a love for reading, increase vocabulary and introduce sight words.
