My Students
My students are sweet, loving special education students in the 6th-8th grades. Their disabilities range anywhere from ADHD/ADD to intellectually disabled, who are severely behind in their academics. My students love to come to school and enjoy being around their peers and teachers. They love to learn new things and look forward to each new day and lesson.
My school is in a low-income area and many students are on free or reduced-price lunches.
Our middle school is one of three in the community and is the smallest.
My Project
The Scholastic News magazines are about current events and topics of interest to the students. These magazines will be used to reinforce topics being taught in the classroom.
Storyworks and DynaMath Scholastic Magazines help keep the students interest while they are learning.
Since the students will be into the topic, they will forget they are learning. They love getting the magazines and looking at the pictures. We have looked at the pictures and tried to predict what the story would be about. They love it when they have correctly identified the topic just from the pictures.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
