Help me give my students fidget rewards for being excellent. Many schools are behind academically as a result of COVID! However, my students have an opportunity to enhance their learning in Reading and Math through an online tool.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students compete weekly in the "Hall of Fame" answering 100 questions correctly in Reading and Math! Student winners select prizes from a treasure chest as a reward along with receiving a certificate. Then students receive a pizza party after 5 consecutive weeks. As a grand finally, students are entered into a raffle at the end of the year for bigger incentives. The online program is adaptive to the students learning path. Students are able to work through problems in both English and Spanish. The program is a supplement support to help enhance student learning. As many schools are realizing, students are behind academically due to COVID. Hopefully, this tool and the competition will help students' needs.
The fidget resources will incentivize students as rewards for completing their 100 questions correctly in Reading and Math.
Students select these prizes from a giant treasure box. I love to reward students with fidget toys and other school resources like pencils and toppers. These types of rewards serve a dual purpose. One it gives students a reward for a job well done. Secondly, students are able to utilize the prizes in class to stay focused. The year-end goal is for students to gain higher reading and math levels from the adaptive online support.
