This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever been with an assignment and had nothing else to do but sit there? I am trying to keep this from happening to my students.
My students are some of the best second graders you can ask for.
Even though they come from a less than perfect home environment, they still want to be successful in class and are very helpful and energetic. We are a Title 1 school, where the majority of the students are on a free lunch program.
My Project
I am asking for these math and reading centers so that students can be learning at all times of the day. Having materials that are inviting and interesting will motivate them to "play" while they learn. Being able to apply what they have just learned will increase their knowledge of the subject. It will also help those students struggling with the concept to get hands-on practice. Being able to incorporate reading books into the center will also help them with their reading comprehension sills.
Being able to have materials that are hands-on and that reinforce what is being taught is a great way to have students understand concepts effectively.
Having these centers will give them the opportunity to do this and to enhance their learning.
