Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard-working and eager to learn. They come from diverse backgrounds and home lives. It sometimes affects them socially and emotionally. They mostly come from financially challenged homes.
Some come to school hungry and rely on school meals for nourishment.
Many of my students need to feel I am there for them, which is something I strive to provide for them.
My Project
I would like a strong phonemic awareness program so my students can become strong readers.
They need systematic instruction with segmentation, rhyme, and blending routines so that they can become strong readers.
This will help so that they can also manipulate and write words on lap boards. They will find reading enjoyable when it is interactive and they can see the connections with letters, sounds, and words. It would be great to hear a student say, "Oh my goodness! I can read, I actually read the whole thing all by myself!"
