This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in my class are nothing short of amazing. Most of my students come from families that were struggling to make ends meet before the global pandemic hit, and now they are barely keeping their heads above water.
Yet these students meet and exceed my expectations time and time again.
They are sweet and supportive to their classmates, they are respectful, and they work hard to learn. I feel lucky every day to be their teacher.
My Project
My students are fighting an uphill battle this year. Almost none of them had any previous school experience, and many of them had busy parents who weren't able to give them a lot of one on one time in the last year. They came to Kindergarten unprepared, but they have been working so hard all year and have made amazing progress. The items I am requesting will help reward them for their hard work and incentivize them to keep it up! I am also requesting books that are appropriate for my beginning readers, where they can feel successful using decoding skills to read them.
