My Students

"Explore new worlds. Read." That's Read.gov's slogan to encourage kids to open up a book.

My students just don't have the same access to books, magazine, and information as everyone else.

Coming from low-income families with working parents, my students are at a disadvantage when it comes to reading. They didn't receive the same encouragement or support to read at a younger age and now they are very far behind.

My Project

By providing them with Choices Magazine, you will be giving my students another exciting opportunity to read. Choices Magazine has a lot of articles that my students can relate to, and anything that they read that sparks their interest will help them build literacy skills.

While studying American History and Government and Civics, my students will be able to make connections between their daily lives and the content from the curriculum by reading the articles in Choices Magazine.

Even better . . . while "exploring new worlds" they will also become better readers and writers.
