My Students
Through interactive read alouds students can be engaged with a book and learn different literary elements. By using a read aloud to teach a skill, all students are able to understand the new skill.
I am the lucky teacher of 28 second graders.
My students come from more than ten different countries and speak 14 different home languages! My school focuses on immigrant, refugee, and neighborhood students. Over 85% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students deserve high quality materials and experiences, which are often denied to them due to home and school budget issues. You can help give them the high quality educational experiences they deserve.
My Project
Each year I have students who range from reading two years below grade level to those who are reading far above. In addition to meeting with students one on one and in small groups, I provide instruction to the whole class. In order to make whole class instruction meaningful, I introduce features of literature to students through read alouds, using Linda Hoyt's "Interactive Read Aloud." The books I am requesting are the ones outlined in Hoyt's book. Through your generosity I can use these wonderful books to teach my students concepts such as predicting, finding the problem and solution, and flashback.
Read alouds are a wonderful part of any day in a classroom.
With your support, I can take my read alouds to the next level. These books will help provide high quality instruction to all of my students!
