Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since the pandemic it has been apparent that the achievement gap particularly for low-income students has widened. My classroom, in a community that I grew up in is witnessing the adverse effects first hand. As the impact of the pandemic continue to linger, the need for financial support has become increasingly evident.
With your donation, I will be able to provide phonics resources to 3rd grade students that are reading on a kindergarten level.
As a math teacher, I have witnessed several students have strong math capabilities but experience failure due to the lack of reading capabilities. Hooked on Phonics, the headphones and other supplies will be used to create an intervention station to push the students at kinder level forward.
The funds will not only enhance reading proficiency, but create an inclusive and enriched learning environment. Thank you for your consideration.
